Management of Bursaries and their Effectiveness

It has come to my attention that more girls are being provided with bursaries than boys. Although these girls are being provided with these bursaries, most of them do not take education seriously.

I feel that they are misusing the opportunity in a sense that when these girls are given this aid, they take it for granted; then they start having boyfriends as well as being rude to their teachers because they think that they are superior to their teachers.

Eventually, they drop out of school because of unplanned pregnancies and they are forced into early marriages. I think that bursaries should be given to hard working, deserving needy students, and that their performance should also be monitored.

In my opinion, continuation of a bursary to a student should be based on their continued good performance in school, and this should be made clear to the students as a condition.
