TRAINING OF ADOLESCENTS IN MEDIA SKILLS, CHILD RIGHTS AND PUBLIC SPEAKING ON PEER TO PEER ADVOCACY - Second tranche learners of Youth Out Loud
On 24th and 25th February Timveni
held the second training workshop with learners on Basic Journalism Skills in
Mangochi. The main objective of the training was to equip the learners with
basic journalism skills to enable them to professionally identify and report on
issues affecting their education and human rights in their schools and
communities.
The training workshop targeted 26 learners and 4 teachers
drawn from 7 secondary schools in Mangochi namely; Mangochi, Mpondasi, Chowe,
Chimwala, Lisumbwi, St. Monica and Mdinde secondary schools and two presenters
and editorial learners that were trained during the first tranche were also at
the training to share their experience and how they do the programs.

During the trainings there was active participation which
gives hope that the second trained team will really do a good job and they will
be able to do what they are taught.
Then learners were given assignments to do group discussions on various
topics and made presentations on what they discussed.
