Students at St. Monica are dropping out of school because of early marriages. The head teacher Mr.Gojo said many girls are dropping out of school because in Mangochi many parents are not educated as a result they have no time to encourage the importance of education. In the end, they end up forcing their children into early marriages.
He added that this issue is affecting many girls in different schools. There is need to end this predicament by having meetings with parents, teachers and chiefs to discuss the way forward.
I met a certain girl who dropped out of school because of early marriage. She said this also happening because of copying behaviors of their peers at school and also because of poverty.
