Problems Faced By Girls In Mangochi

In Mangochi, there is a big problem of early marriages and this is common in most of the girls since some years back up to now. This problem is due to some cultural practices that we have.

As a Youth Out Loud (YOL) journalist, l asked Traditional Authority Nankumba and he said “it is true that most girls get married early. I have heard about the issue several time and I will summon senior chiefs in my community so that they should discuss the issue to come up with some ways of solving the problem”.

Even though the issue is like that but still more people challenge the chiefs and they tell their children to get married early. But this is a serious issue because they are violating the children right of education and it is not good for the girls and boys because they have right to education.
