Third Tranche Training of Youth Out Loud

With support from UNICEF, Timveni Youth Out loud (YOL) team on 23rd and 24 June trained student and teachers from St. Michaels, St. Martins, St. Joseph, Lungwena, Changali, Koche, Thema, Tsekwere, Nkope, Cape Maclear and Mpondasi Community day Secondary Schools.

The training took place at Fort Johnson Hotel in Mangochi with the aim of equipping them with Journalism skills in order for the learners to report on issues that affect them in their schools as well as community, child rights, writing articles which will be posted on different social media and become good public speakers in different activities.

During the two day training, the facilitators (Carolyn Nkhoma, Ernest Makanda and Ralph Nyirenda) covered the following topics including Introduction to Journalism, Interviewing skills and blogging.

During the training, the learners representative Yamikani from St. Micheals Girls Secondary School thanked Timveni with support from UNICEF for the project which is being implemented in the district, saying it will boost their self-esteem and improve on English writing as well as their education.

Then later on the participants were given assignments to identify issues, find out who will be interviewed and why?  Some of the articles will be posted on this blog.
