Fredokiss introduces scholarships at St. Monica

By Princess Mkonde

A happy day indeed, our school was blessed with wonderful visitors from UNICEF with their champion Fredokiss, born Penjani Kalua.

Their aim was to meet UNICEF scholars, encourage them and introduce Fredokiss scholarship at our school.

Both UNICEF and Fredokiss motivated and inspire us and also taught us on the impacts of early marriages and importance of education

There are some impacts of early marriages. They say early marriage increases population growth as a person, girl child in general gets married early and have children at an early stage because of poor decision making and lack of good planning.

Another impact was about early motherhood. When a girl becomes a mother at a tender age, sometimes it leads to contacting STI’s including HIV/AIDS as one can be positive.

They also highlighted on the importance of education which helps someone to be independent and contributes to the economy of the country.

The students were extremely happy because Fredokiss gave scholarships to 10 girls at our school.
