MPONDASI STUDENTS PERFORMANCE DETERIORATING

Faith Gooke
At Mpondasi Secondary School, performance has gone down than in the past. I interviewed the students themselves to explain what has really made their performance go down? They said that it is because of trips which make some of them start having boyfriends so that they should be providing for them pocket money.

When I interviewed the head teacher, he explained that it is because where the school is located is along the river as such learners drop school to go fishing.

The students lack role models because most young people are not educated in their community. Many parents take school as a less important because they think fishing activities earn them money for the children to get educated. It will take too long for parents to enjoy back their money or wealth from their children.

The school’s head teacher promised that this can be improved by encouraging students to go further with their education and have role models from different companies to encourage students as well as encouraging them on education.
